AmiFi is an owner-run engineering firm for small and mid-sized businesses, based in the South Bay of Los Angeles. We bring AI tooling into your business where it pays off, automate the repetitive work that eats your team's week, and write the custom software that ties it all into the systems you already run.
Engineering leadership behind production systems at:
We start with a free 30-minute call over Google Meet to hear where the hours leak, then tell you honestly whether automation is worth it. If the numbers don't add up, we'll say so and part as friends. When it does add up, the paid Roadmap digs in, and that usually starts with a day or two sitting with your team watching how the work actually gets done. We're not in the business of selling software that doesn't earn its keep.
When it is worth it, you get a senior engineering firm (not a tool subscription, not a freelancer, not a junior learning on your retainer) for less than the cost of a single full-time hire. We bring in AI tooling where it pays off, automate what your team repeats by hand, and write custom software where it fits: sometimes the glue that ties your systems together, sometimes a tool no product covers. All of it production-grade work that holds up in your real business.
AI-generated apps ship fast, then break on real customers, real data, and real security requirements. We assess, stabilize, and harden what you have, the same job we've taken twice on products that had outgrown their first build. No judgment, NDA-friendly.
See rescue engagementsFree, 30 minutes over Google Meet. Tell us where the time goes; we'll tell you what's worth automating, and what isn't. No travel, no prep, no pitch deck.
A fixed-fee, two-week engagement. It usually opens with a day or two at your office watching how the work happens, then delivers a written plan: the top automation targets, the projected return on each, and a quote for the build, credited toward the build if we proceed.
We wire AI tooling and automation into the tools you already run (customer-facing or back-office), write custom software where nothing off the shelf fits, and ship to production in weeks, not quarters. You approve the scope and the price before we write a line of code.
We support what we ship, through support contracts or as-needed scheduling. And everything we build is yours: code, data, documentation. No lock-in.
Pick an industry and watch a real workflow move end to end: captured, understood by the model, and routed into the systems you already run. AI integrations are cruise-control for repetitive and tedious tasks empowering your staff with tools to make better decisions, faster and more accurately.
Bring us the work your team keys by hand. In 30 minutes over Google Meet we'll tell you what's worth automating, what isn't, and where we'd start. No prep, no pitch deck, and an honest read by the end of it.
Every engineer at AmiFi is a US citizen working inside the United States. We don't offshore, we don't subcontract abroad, and your data and code never leave the country. For regulated and sensitive work, that alone rules out most of the competition.
We've built under real scrutiny before: PCI-DSS compliance implemented for payment platforms, KYC/AML programs built from scratch, internal systems shipped inside a Fortune 500 healthcare company. We build to your compliance requirements, and put it in writing: your data stays in your systems, and nothing we build trains on it.
No offshore handoffs. No overseas access to your systems.

If your team runs on repetitive, rules-based work, we can almost certainly automate it, whatever the industry. Tell us where the time goes and we'll map the highest-value places to start.
Not one framework someone picked up last year. Production systems in the languages, databases, and clouds you already use, plus the model integration layer on top. From the metal to the model, we've shipped at every layer.
We've built and consulted for companies together since 2010. Individually, we've worked as engineers, consultants, and team leads; together, we bring the clarity and efficiency that only comes from years of working side by side.

Chris started at 17, running the network and building web apps for an aerospace manufacturer. Twenty-five years later he still sets the architecture, writes code alongside the team, and takes your first call himself. He has a habit of picking the technology that turns out to be right a few years early, which is why he will tell you when AI is not the answer.
ShoutEngine was one of the first podcast platforms to work the way YouTube did (browser-based hosting, a full CMS, streaming) while the rest of the industry still ran on FTP uploads. It carried more than 3,000 podcasts, served by a bespoke content delivery platform he built and homed in a downtown Los Angeles data center.
Led the internal application team at DaVita, a healthcare provider, building the intranet and clinic-maintenance software the company ran on. He built it on HTML5, jQuery, and Ajax while Flash was still the safe default, a bet on where mobile was going, and the platform rolled out to the iPad the day it arrived.
The business took on the high-risk merchants every other processor turned away, and the card networks approved it as an intermediary because the controls underneath were real: transaction-level fraud scrubbing, chargebacks handled properly, and customer service that actually answered. He built those systems, wired them directly into the banks, and ran PCI-DSS compliance for the platforms behind them.
One Flutter codebase shipping to both iOS and Android, serverless on AWS Lambda, with a blockchain wallet integrated so cleanly that users never knew it was there and the KYC/AML tooling behind it. Guardian Circle was unfunded when he arrived and raised $3M after the rebuild, was featured on Apple's Planet of the Apps and in the documentary The Trust Machine, and became the X-Prize Foundation's API partner for its Women's Safety Prize.
He came in as co-founder and CTO of an NFT marketplace on the NEAR blockchain, where the proof of concept had done its job and was never going to carry what the company was becoming. He set the architecture that would, led more than ten engineers, ran the security audits, and brought the technical credibility the round needed to close.
Since 2022 he has worked as a fractional CTO for companies in the US and abroad, from behavioral healthcare in Seattle to a venture-capital firm in LA. The through-line across two decades is smaller companies that needed serious engineering without a department to run it.

Patrick has worked with members of the team for nearly 15 years across several endeavors. He brings extensive QA and UAT experience along with a wealth of bookkeeping and auditing knowledge.
There's no price list, because a QuickBooks sync and a full internal application aren't the same job. You get a fixed quote after the free intro call and, for larger work, the paid Automation Roadmap that scopes it. You approve the number before we write a line of code, and changes are quoted, never absorbed into a surprise invoice. Where the scope is still being discovered we work hourly against a cap you set, then move to a fixed quote once the ground is known. What you never get is open-ended billing.
Weeks, not quarters. A focused automation or integration often ships in a few weeks; a full application takes longer. Either way you see working software every week, not a status update once a month, and the Automation Roadmap gives you a timeline before the build starts so there are no surprises.
Both, as the work calls for it. The first call is 30 minutes over Google Meet, and much of the build happens remotely. When it helps to sit with your team, watch how the work actually happens, and map your systems in person, we come on-site. We're based in the South Bay of Los Angeles and cover the greater LA and Orange County area, and we work remotely with clients further out.
No. Most of the businesses we work with run well without an engineer on payroll, and that's usually why we're talking. We handle the technical side end to end and explain what matters in plain English, so you can make good decisions without a computer-science degree. If you do have a technical team, we work alongside them rather than around them.
Small and mid-sized businesses: owner-operated shops through established regional companies. If your team runs on repetitive, rules-based work and you've outgrown doing it by hand, you're the right size. You get a senior engineering firm for less than the cost of a single full-time hire, without adding a headcount you have to keep busy.
Use it. Off-the-shelf chat is genuinely good for drafting an email or thinking something through. That's different from running your business on it. The win isn't a chat window your team pastes into; it's AI wired into your actual systems, reading the invoice, checking it against the ledger, and posting the result while everyone's asleep. Off-the-shelf chat and custom software aren't an either/or: we use the models where they fit and build the plumbing that makes them dependable.
Tell us where the time goes. The first conversation is 30 minutes over Google Meet: no travel on either side, and an honest read by the end of it. If nothing's worth automating, we'll say so. If it is, the next step is a fixed-fee, two-week Roadmap, usually starting on site with you, and it ends with a build quote you can hold us to.

Book straight onto Chris's calendar. No sales rep and nothing to prepare: you talk with the engineer who would actually scope the work.
